Privacy policy
Draft for legal review. This policy describes how the Tja Go website and apps handle personal information today. It may change after legal review; the date below shows the latest version.
Last updated: 23 October 2026.
Who we are
Tja Go is a delivery service in Suriname. It runs this website and three apps: Tja Go (for customers), Tja Go Merchant (for stores) and Tja Go Rider (for delivery riders). Questions about this policy go to privacy@tjago.me.
What we collect
Everyone who uses the apps
- Your phone number (to sign in with a one-time code), and your name and email address if you give them.
- The language you use and a device token so we can send you notifications.
- Basic technical information our servers record when the apps talk to them, such as your IP address and app version.
Customers
- Delivery addresses you save, including the map location, street and house number, landmarks and directions.
- Your device's location when you ask the app to find your address. It is not tracked in the background.
- Your orders, the people you send them to (name and phone), tips, reviews and messages to support.
- Payment method and payment status. Card details are handled by our card processor; we never see or store your full card number. If you pay cash, we only record that the order was paid in cash.
Riders
- Your legal name, date of birth, home address, email and vehicle.
- A selfie and photos of your ID (national ID, passport or driver's licence), front and back. To save you typing, the text on the ID photo is read automatically by Amazon Web Services; you check and correct it before sending.
- Your location while you are online in the app, so we can offer you nearby deliveries and show customers where their order is. It is not collected when you are offline.
- Your deliveries, earnings, tips, cash collected and cash payouts.
- When a customer asks for an ID check at the door: a photo of the recipient's ID and the name on it.
Stores
- Business and contact details, the people who work in the app, menus and photos, opening hours, and payout details.
Website forms
- The details you type into a form (for example name, phone, email, area, business details) and the consent wording you agreed to.
How we use it
- To run deliveries: take and pay for orders, send them to stores, offer them to riders, and keep everyone updated.
- To check that riders are who they say they are, and to do the ID check at the door when a customer asks for one.
- To pay riders and stores, keep accounts and meet tax rules.
- To help you when you contact support, and to prevent fraud and misuse.
- To send notifications about your orders or deliveries. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising by others.
Who sees it
- The store sees what you ordered and the name for the order.
- The rider sees the pickup and, once they accept the job, the delivery address, the recipient's name and a way to call them.
- Customers who ask to see their rider's ID see the rider's photo and that their ID was checked, not the ID itself.
- Service providers that run parts of the service for us, under agreements that require them to protect it: Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, reading text on ID photos, email), Expo and Google Firebase (app notifications), Mapbox (maps and addresses), and our card processor.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Account details: while you have an account. When you delete it, we delete or anonymise your personal details within 30 days.
- Orders, payments and accounting records: for as long as tax law requires, with your name removed where we can.
- Rider identity documents: while you ride with us and for the period the law requires afterwards.
- Recipient ID photos from ID checks at the door: deleted after 90 days.
- Website form details: until shortly after launch or until you ask us to delete them.
Information is stored on access-restricted systems; ID details are encrypted.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or to stop non-essential messages, by emailing privacy@tjago.me. To delete your account, see Delete your account: you can do it in the app or with a form. We aim to answer within 30 days. We follow the principles of applicable Surinamese law and, for people contacting us from the European Union (for example the Netherlands), the GDPR.
The apps are for people aged 18 and over.
